Bi-Weekly Newspaper Layout

2016 – 2017

From February of 2016 to September of 2017 I was the Chief of Design at the Johnson & Wales Campus Herald. At the campus herald my tasks included, designing the layout of each issue of the newspaper, taking photos for the website and layout, as well as managing and maintaining a wordpress website. I also supervised design and photography staff, and assisted the Editor-in-Chief in her duties. In the summer of 2016 I attended a journalism conference and attended layout redesign classes. I learned a ton of new InDesign tips and tricks and really tried to apply them to our layout. I then took what we had of the paper and gave it a fresh modern look. I thought that we weren’t your basic school newspaper, so we shouldn’t look like one either. In September of 2016 we debuted the newspaper in the first week back to classes and the new design was favored widely by the university.
